Walmart Scholarship

Founded in the year 1962, the Walmart Company very soon initiated the Walmart Foundation program that offers a variety of scholarship programs for students in the US to meet their tuition costs.

Walmart Family Foundation scholarships include the following – Walmart Associate scholarships, Sam Walton Community scholarships, Walmart Dependent scholarships and the Walton Family Foundation scholarships.

The applicants of the Walmart scholarships should necessarily be US Citizens or atleast permanent residents of the US. Students applying for the Walmart scholarships should also have a GPA of 2.5 and above. And they are also required to take the SAT/ACT.

Walmart scholarships are granted to students who plan to enroll in a two year or four year undergraduate degree program in an accredited college. In case the scholarship is granted to a student and he or she fails to get a seat in any good accredited college the next semester, the scholarship stands forfeited.

The Walmart Associate Scholarship was formerly known as the Higher Reach Scholarship. This scholarship is applicable to associates who are employed part time or full time with Walmart for the past six months atleast and who plan to pursue an associate degree, a bachelor’s degree, a master level degree or enroll in a lifelong learning program at an accredited college or university.

To be eligible for the Associate Scholarship, applicants have to demonstrate financial need and show adequate proof of community service. Associates who already receive some other type of scholarships that cover their educational expenses are not eligible to apply. The scholarships are awarded four times annually. As part of the registration process, students are required to take an eligibility quiz and only upon passing the quiz students are given access to the application form.

Walmart Community and Development scholarships include the following – Sam Walton Community Scholarship, Walmart Dependent Scholarship and the Walton Family Foundation scholarship. The Sam Walton Community scholarship is worth $3000 and is offered to graduating seniors with low income for supporting educational expenses. Applicants must possess a minimum GPA of 2.5 and must have taken the ACT/SAT.

The applicant must also plan to enroll in a two year or four year college or university program. This scholarship is not open to Walmart employees or their dependents. The Walmart Dependent scholarship is open to graduating seniors who are dependents of Walmart and Sam’s club. Minimum GPA requirement is 2.5.  Another scholarship for the dependents of Walmart and Sam’s club is the Walton Family Foundation scholarship.

This scholarship is worth $13000 which is paid over the next four years to the winner. To be eligible a student must possess an ACT score of 22 and SAT score of 1030 and must prove adequate proof of financial need for meeting education expenses.
