Textile Designing is an emerging field of career choice with plenty of career prospects in textile industry and global fashion industry. Many international universities of high reputation conduct different levels of professional programmes in textile designing. In Australia, TAFE institutes and some of the universities are offering these courses and applications for admissions are accepted through out the year in most of these institutions.

Sunshine Coast Institute of TAFE conducts a full time advanced diploma course, Diploma of Textiles, Clothing and Footwear, which starts in February and duration varies from one year to three years.

Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University offers several courses in this field. Some of these courses are Bachelor of Applied Science (Textile Technology); Bachelor of Arts (Textile Design); Doctor of Philosophy (Textiles); Master of Arts – Textile Design by Research; Bachelor of Applied Science (Fashion and Textile Merchandising) and Master of Fashion and Textiles.

RMIT University’s TAFE Division conducts advanced diploma courses such as Advanced Diploma of Textile Design and Development; Diploma of Textile Design and Development and Advanced Diploma of Fashion and Textiles Merchandising. Course duration ranges from one year to three years and courses begin in the month of July.

University of Technology Sydney provides a course, Bachelor of Design in Fashion and Textiles, a full time on-campus programme. Course normally begins in September.

Central TAFE provides two full time courses in Fashion and Textile Design. Certificate IV in Design (Fashion and Textile Design) is a certificate level course with a course length one year to three years. Cost of the education for international students is approximately AUS $10,000 a year. Course starts in September. Diploma of Fashion and Textile Design is an advanced level diploma course with a course length of three months to one year. Cost of the course for international applicants is approximately AUS $10,000 a year.
