Study Egyptology in British Universities

oxford_universityEgyptology is the study of Egyptian Archaeology and numerous academic programmes at master level and doctoral level are offered by many British Universities. Professional Egyptology courses offered by world renowned universities such as Oxford University and Cambridge University are highly sought after courses worldwide.

Oxford University and University of Cambridge conduct Egyptology courses at the Faculty of Oriental Studies: Near and Middle East and doctoral level Egyptology courses allow candidates to choose specialization in any of the subjects such as Egyptian Languages, Ancient Egyptian History, Ancient Egyptian Architecture, Ancient Egyptian Arts and Literature and similar highly focused study areas.

Other renowned British universities that offer study programmes in Egyptology are University of Birmingham, University of Bristol, University of Liverpool, University of Wales, University College London and University of Durham.

International applicants who wish to pursue a Doctorate degree in Egyptology in British universities must have a post graduation in a relevant subject such as MA in Archaeology, MA in Egyptian Archaeology, MA in Egyptian Languages or any other related field. He should also have proven linguistic skills in any of the languages such as Arabic, French or German in order to carry out advanced research in the field of Egyptology. Other admission requirements include a proven English Language Proficiency such as an IELTS or TOEFL certificate.
