Scholarships For Women

Scholarships for women are offered with the sole objective of helping female students succeed in their professional life. Exclusive women oriented scholarships encourage students to apply for the course of their choice and lead a good life, in this male dominated society.

Scholarships for women include scholarships for young students, working women, single mothers, mature women, battered women, minority women etc. Such scholarships help women candidates to excel in fields which have significantly lower percentage of female employees.

The Zonta International’s Jane M Klausman Women in Business scholarship is offered to female students who wish to pursue an academic career in the field of business management at the under graduate level and have an excellent academic track record. The amount for the Jane M Klausman Scholarship is $5000 and an additional $1000 from the Zonta club.

Another scholarship for females between the ages of 12-18 is the Girls Going Places program by the Guardian Life Insurance Company. The scholarship amount ranges from $1000 to $10000 to fifteen girls every year. The Emerge Scholarship program has so far awarded more than fifty women with the prize money for funding their educational expenses. The Jeannette Rankin Foundation (JRF) scholarships help poor and low income women who are 35 years old or more.

To be awarded with the JRF Scholarship the candidates should clearly demonstrate how education will help change their present condition. The Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship provides help to women in the field of technology who dream to achieve leadership roles in the field.

The AARP Foundation Women’s scholarship program has so far helped 500 women candidates. To be eligible for this scholarship, candidates must be above the age of forty and should have enrolled in any accredited institution or a technical training program. The Talbots Women’s scholarship is given to candidates who wish to return to the world of education later on in their life. The scholarship amount of $10000 is given to 6 winners and another $1000 is given to 60 winners each.

Other notable scholarships for women include – Society of Women Engineers Scholarship, Glamour top 10 college women contest for college juniors, Student award for the health & dignity of women, Anne Maureen Whitney Barrow Memorial scholarship for engineering students, DigiPen Women’s scholarship of $1000 each to 10 winners, Project Red Flag scholarship for females suffering from bleeding disorders, Selected Professions Fellowship from the American Association of University Women, Thomson scholarships for students working in occupational safety and health field, AWG Potomac William Rucker Greenwood scholarship for geoscience students, scholarships from IBM, Microsoft etc.
