Programmes in Complimentary Medicine in Canada

Complimentary Medicine is a vast field of medical science discipline which comprises of several medical practices such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, rehabilitation therapy, counselling therapy, marriage and family therapy, recreational therapy such as horticultural therapy, music therapy, art therapy, drama therapy and dance therapy, naturopathy, acupuncture, herbal medicines, holistic medicines and similar other medical practices.
There are many Canadian universities that offer courses in various fields of complimentary medicine and major among them are the University of Winnipeg, Canadian Mennonite University, Vancouver Island University, the University of British Columbia, University of Alberta, University of Manitoba, Acadia University, Dalhousie University, University of Guelph, McMaster University and the Queen’s University.
The University of Winnipeg is well known for courses such as BSc (4-Year) in Physics (Radiation Therapy) and Master of marriage and family therapy while Canadian Mennonite University is popular for a bachelor programme, Bachelor of Music Therapy.
A Horticultural Therapy Diploma is offered at the Vancouver Island University while two master level qualifications are available at the University of British Columbia such as Master of Physical Therapy and Master of Occupational Therapy.
University of Alberta conducts several programmes in occupational therapy and physical therapy. PhD in occupational therapy, PhD in physical therapy, MSc in occupational therapy, MSc in physical therapy and MPT Physical Therapy are some of the courses offered at the University of Alberta.
Many professional courses are available at the Dalhousie University too. Bachelor of Health Science (respiratory therapy), MSc Occupational Therapy (Post Professional), MSc in Occupational Therapy and MSc in Physiotherapy are some of the courses available at the Dalhousie University.
Other programmes available include courses such as Master of occupational therapy offered at the University of Manitoba, Certificate in music therapy and Bachelor of Music with concentration in music therapy conducted at the Acadia University, MSc in couple and family therapy offered by the University of Guelph, Master of Science in Occupational Therapy and Master of Science in Physiotherapy available at the McMaster University and the Queen’s University.
