New Zealand: Major Destination for Adventure Sports Programmes

Adventure-SportsToday’s youngsters are very much fascinated by such choices that require tremendous youthful energy but at the same time well rewarding in terms of monetary gains and career advancement. That is the major reason behind the growing popularity for the Adventure Sports and Adventure-based Recreation study programmes offered by various global institutions.

Over the last few years, New Zealand has been able to establish a good reputation in the field of Adventure Sports and Adventure-based Recreation Studies and most of the programmes available in this country are open for all international students. So every year large numbers of international students travel to various universities and colleges of New Zealand for the purpose of obtaining professional qualifications in Adventure Sports and Adventure-based Recreation Studies.

Major New Zealand academic institutions that offer Adventure Sports and Adventure-based Recreation Studies are as below:

Wellington Institute of Technology (http://www.weltec.ac.nz) offers an Adventure-Based Introduction to Leisure (ABIL) with course length ranging between 3 and 6 months.

Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology (http://www.cpit.ac.nz) conducts a three-year Bachelor of Adventure Recreation and Outdoor Education and a Diploma in Applied Recreation.

Tai Poutini Polytechnic (http://www.tpp.ac.nz) has two certificate level programmes, Certificate in Mountain Skills  (course duration is between 1 and 3 months) and Certificate in Ski Patrol with course length ranging between 6 months and 1 year.

Otago Polytechnic (http://www.otagopolytechnic.ac.nz) offers numerous study programmes such as Snowboard Instructor Certificate Level 4 with course duration between 3 and 6 months; Certificate in Skiing and Avalanche Safety Management of course duration between 3 and 6 months; Certificate in Outdoor Pursuits (Level 4) with a duration between 6 months and 1 year; Certificate in Snowboarding and Avalanche Safety Management (course duration is between 3 and 6 months); Diploma in Outdoor Leadership and Management (Level 5) of duration between 6 months and 1 year; New Zealand Adventure Gap Year with a duration between 3 and 6 months and finally, New Zealand Adventure Gap Year advanced level with a course length between 6 months and 1 year.
