Many UK universities are world renowned for Medical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering and tissue engineering medical programmes. University of Surrey, University of Ulster, Keele University, Brunel University, University of Warwick, University of Aberdeen, University of Aberdeen and University of Strathclyde conduct some reputed academic programmes in this field such as Biomedical Engineering MRes, Biomedical Engineering BSc (Hons), Biomedical Engineering MSc, Biomedical Engineering PG Certificate and Biomedical Engineering PG Diploma.

Master in Engineering in Medical Design Engineering programmes are conducted at the University of Nottingham and Cardiff University conducts PhD in Medical Engineering and Medical Physics, M.Phil in Medical Engineering and Medical Physics and Engineering Diploma in Medical Engineering and Medical Physics. Biomedical Engineering BEng (Hons) and Biomedical Engineering MEng (Hons) degrees are awarded by the University of Birmingham and University of Glasgow.

Higher qualifications in Tissue Engineering are provided by the Imperial College London and the University of Westminster. The Imperial College London conducts M.Phil and PhD courses in Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering ,M.Sc in Biomedical Engineering, M.Phil in Medical Engineering  and PhD in Medical Engineering.  Courses offered by the University of Westminster include courses such as M.Phil in Tissue Engineering and PhD in Tissue Engineering.

Other biomedical and medical engineering programmes available in various UK universities are Biomedical Engineering M.Phil and Biomedical Engineering PhD (Aston University, Birmingham), Biomedical Engineering MSc and Medical Engineering BEng (Queen Mary, University of London), Biomedical Engineering and Cybernetics BSc (University of Reading), Medical Engineering BEng and Medical Engineering MSc (University of Bradford), Biomedical Engineering and Medical Imaging MSc (University College London), Biomedical Engineering BEng and Medical Engineering PhD (City University) and Biomedical Engineering MEng and Biomedical Engineering MSc (Oxford University).

Besides, University of Hull and University of Leeds offer a Medical Engineering MSc (Eng) and University of Bath and Staffordshire University offer Medical Engineering BEng (Hons) and Medical Engineering MEng (Hons).
