Media Studies in Canadian Universities

Numerous academic programmes in Media Arts and Media Studies are available in many Canadian universities such as University of Lethbridge; Simon Fraser University; NSCAD University; Ontario College of Art and Design; Concordia University; Emily Carr University of Art and Design; Queen’s University and Ryerson University.

Ontario College of Art and Design and Emily Carr University of Art and Design are world renowned Canadian institutions in the field of Art and Design education. Major academic programmes offered by these institutions in the areas of Media Arts and Media Studies include courses such as BFA in Integrated Media and Interdisciplinary Master’s in Art, Media and Design, both are offered at the Ontario College of Art & Design as well as Bachelor of media arts with major in film, video and integrated media, offered at the Emily Carr University of Art and Design.

Academic programmes of all levels are available at the Simon Fraser University and major degrees awarded by the university include qualifications such as BA in Interactive Arts and Technology; BSc in Interactive Arts and Technology; MA in Interactive Arts and Technology; MSc in Interactive Arts and Technology and PhD in interactive arts and technology.

Concordia University offers BFA with major in Intermedia; BFA with major in cyberarts and Master of fine arts with concentration in open media while NSCAD University is well known for a bachelor level qualification,  Bachelor of fine arts with major in media arts and a master programme, Master of fine arts with major in media arts.

Queen’s University (Bachelor of Arts with major in film and media studies); Ryerson University (Master of Fine Arts in Documentary Media) and University of Lethbridge (Bachelor of Fine Arts in New Media) are also preferred for Media Arts and Media Studies academic programmes.
