Islamic Religious Studies in UK Universities

university-of-manchesterMany UK universities offer courses in Islamic Religious Studies for all international students who wish to pursue a career in religion. Certificate, Diploma, Bachelor, Master and Doctoral level courses in Islamic Studies are available in University of Manchester, Cardiff University, University of Aberdeen, University of Birmingham, University of Leeds, Canterbury College and Cadbury Sixth Form College.

University of Manchester offers Islamic Studies and Muslim Societies BA (Hons), a three year duration full time bachelor degree course that starts in the month of September. Cardiff University offers three courses in Islamic Studies such as Islam in Contemporary Britain MA, Islam in the United Kingdom PhD and Islam in the United Kingdom M.Phil.

University of Aberdeen is preferred by a majority of career aspirants in the field of Islamic Studies and courses offered by the university include Islamic Studies M.Phil and Islamic Studies PhD. Both of these courses are doctoral level study programmes and course duration is normally three to four years.

University of Birmingham conducts programmes such as Integrated Study in Islamic Studies PhD and Islamic Studies and Theology BA (Hons). Both courses are offered as full time on-campus programmes and course starts in September-October.

Other Islamic Religious Studies professional programmes offered by UK universities include Arabic and Islamic Studies BA (University of Leeds); Islamic Religious Studies GCE A2 Level (Canterbury College) and Islamic Religious Studies – Islam and Philosophy of Religion GCE AS Level (Cadbury Sixth Form College).

Islamic Religious Studies GCE A2 Level and Islamic Religious Studies – Islam and Philosophy of Religion GCE AS Level are short term advanced certificate level courses with a course length of three months to one year. Courses start in the month of September and courses are offered as full time on-campus programmes.
