Georgia Institute of Technology famously referred as Georgia Tech or Tech or simply as GT, is based in Atlanta, Georgia. Georgia Tech was established in the year 1885 as Georgia School of Technology offering a degree program in Mechanical Engineering.

The Institute got its present name in the year 1948. Competitors of Georgia Institute of Technology in USA includes other giants in education and research such as – Massachusetts Institute of Technology and California Institute of Technology. The institute enrolls nearly 20500 students every year including 13000 undergraduates and nearly 7000 post graduate students. Georgia Tech is supported by nearly 5000 academic and professional staff.

Georgia Institute of Technology deals not only with educational activities but also is a public research university. Georgia Tech has many well known Schools and Colleges functioning under it. Georgia Tech has six colleges and 31 academic units dealing in science and technology.

The six colleges include – College of Architecture, College of Engineering, College of Management, College of Computing, College of Sciences and College of Liberal Arts. The Institute offers degree programs in the following fields – Engineering, Management, Computing, Liberal Arts, Architecture and Sciences. Georgia Tech has many satellite campuses in regions such as – Savannah in Georgia, Metz in France, Athlone in Ireland, Shanghai in China and one in Singapore too.

College of Architecture offers following programs – Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture, Building Construction and Industrial Design respectively, Master of – Architecture, City & Regional Planning and Industrial design respectively, Master of Science in building construction & facility management and in music technology and also offers PhD degrees in Architecture, city and regional planning and music technology.

College of Computing offers – Bachelor of Science in computer science and computational media, Master of Science in bioengineering, computational science and engineering, computer science, human-computer interaction and in information security.

College of Engineering offers – Bachelor and Master of Science in Aerospace engineering, biomedical engineering, chemical and biomolecular engineering, civil engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, environmental engineering, materials science engineering, mechanical engineering, nuclear and radiological engineering, polymer and fiber engineering etc.

The College of Engineering also offers many dual MS programs with other Universities in Korea, Japan, Italy, Europe etc. College of Sciences offers – Bachelor and Master level degree programs in applied mathematics, applied physics, biochemistry, biology, chemistry, discrete mathematics, earth & atmospheric science, psychology, bioinformatics, human-computer interaction, prosthetics & Orthotics, statistics etc. Apart from Bachelor and Master level degrees, the above colleges also offer a wide variety of doctoral degrees.
