Dressmaking Academic Programs in UK

Various degrees, certificate programs, workshops and training courses in the field of dressmaking are available in many UK universities and colleges for both the domestic and the international applicants.

University of Central Lancashire

The University of Central Lancashire conducts a full time three year duration Bachelor of Arts program in Asian dressmaking. The course is titled as Asian Fashion BA (Hons) program and starts in the month of September.

Barnfield College

The Barnfield College offers full time one year duration certificate programs such as Clothing Level 1 Certificate; Clothing Level 2 Certificate and Clothing Level 3 Certificate for the eligible candidates. Course start date is in the month of September.

Warwickshire College

The Warwickshire College offers a full time one year duration certificate program known as ‘Costume and Garment Making Level 3 Introduction Certificate’ as well as one week duration workshop programs such as Creative Arts – Natty Knickers Workshop and Work That Waste – Make and Embelish a Skirt Workshop. Workshop programs are available in the month of September.

City College Brighton and Hove

The City College Brighton and Hove conducts one week duration training programs on dressmaking such as training on Alterations; Costume Making; Creative Machine Embroidery; Dressmaking general; Dressmaking – Alterations; Dressmaking – Jackets and Coats and Ex Tex – New Fabrics from Old for the interested participants. No formal qualifications are required for the admission of the program.

New College Nottingham

Full time one week duration training program on ‘Remake, Remodel and Revamp’ of clothes is available at the New College Nottingham in the month of August for the interested participants.

Lancashire Adult Learning

The Lancashire Adult Learning conducts numerous full time week long training programs on ‘Overlocking Basics’ in the month of January; ‘Pleat, Tuck, Slash and Stitch’ in the month of March; ‘Re-style, Re-vamp and Re-invent clothes’ in the month of November and ‘Serging Stretch Garments’ program at other times.

In addition to this, the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design offers one week duration training on ‘Customizing Your Clothing” in the month of April and the South Nottingham College offer a one week long training on “Making Your Own Baby Clothes” for the career aspirants.
