Carpentry and Joinery Certificate Programmes in New Zealand

Carpentry-and-JoineryCarpentry and Joinery Certificate Programmes are specially designed, short duration academic programmes with the major objective of training students on various aspects of furniture making and woodwork.

Carpentry and Joinery Certificate Programmes are available in New Zealand academic institutions namely, Manukau Institute of Technology, Southern Institute of Technology, WINTEC (Waikato Institute of Technology), NorthTec New Zealand, Tairawhiti Polytechnic, Wellington Institute of Technology, Whitireia Community Polytechnic and Eastern Institute of Technology Hawke’s Bay.

Two carpentry certificate programmes conducted at the Manukau Institute of Technology are MIT Certificate in Carpentry (Level 3), duration of which is between 6 months and 1 year, and MIT Certificate in Carpentry (Level 4)  duration of which is between 3 and 6 months. Southern Institute of Technology imparts education in both carpentry and joinery. Certificate in Carpentry (Pre-Trade) programme duration is between 6 months and 1 year while National Certificate in Joinery (Introduction) takes anything between 3 and 6 months for its completion. Eastern Institute of Technology, Hawke’s Bay conducts one year Certificate Programme in Carpentry (http://www.eit.ac.nz). One year duration National Certificate in Carpentry is also offered at the NorthTec, New Zealand (http://www.northtec.ac.nz).

One year long National Certificate in Carpentry (Level 4) of the Tairawhiti Polytechnic (http://www.tairawhiti.ac.nz) and six month duration Certificate in Carpentry of the Whitireia Community Polytechnic (http://www.whitireia.ac.nz) hold a good reputation among the international student community.

Other reputed academic programmes in Carpentry and Joinery are Certificate in Pre-Trade Carpentry and Certificate in Pre-Trade Joinery, both are conducted at the Wellington Institute of Technology.
