Call centre is a place where IT enabled services (ITES) and business process outsourcing (BPO) services are offered for its clients. There are two types of call centres: domestic call centres and international call centres. Domestic call centres operate nationally and provide services to the domestic customers while international call centres provide services to their global customers.
Anyone can pursue a career in call centres provided that he/she has good language skills, neutral accent, and familiarity with different language accents such as British English accent, American English accent etc. He/she should be an effective problem solver and should possess good communication skills, good listening skills , good analytical skills and basic educational qualification such as a graduation in any stream of subject. He/she should also be ready to work in rotating shifts and should be a very good team player. Good proficiency in MS Office and Internet is also a must for a call centre career. As far as salary is concerned it is a highly remunerative job for candidates with minimum qualifications such as a graduation.
Various career options available in call centers are as Call Center Operators, Customer Care Executives, and Call Center Supervisors, Team leaders, Voice Trainers, Call Centre Managers, Chat Support Executives, Marketing Managers and s on.
Job profile of a Call Center Executive is to handle inbound and outbound calls and a Customer Care Executive is to provide Customer Services by answering customer queries through voice and email. Voice trainers are responsible for providing accent training, voice training, and call centre manners for newly recruited staff.
Chat Support Executives are supposed to communicate with prospective clients through phone, email or chat, to understand client’s opinions and communicating the same to the marketing team. They serve as an integral part of the marketing team and are responsible for on line marketing of call centre services.
