Behavioral science is an advanced branch of social sciences with major focus on Neural-Decision Sciences and Social-Communication Sciences. Major Neural-Decision Sciences are Social Psychology; Cognitive Theory; Psychobiology; Management Science; Social Neuroscience and Ethology while important Social-Communication Sciences include Anthropology; Organizational Behavior; Behavioral Finance; Social Networks; Memetics; and Organizational Ecology. Professionals academically qualified in behaviour science are known as behaviour scientists.
All professional courses in behaviour science focus on the development of a set of Behavioral Science Skills in students. These behavioral skills include understanding of dynamic development; professional ethics; data analysis; presentation and writing skills; critical thinking and problem solving skills; project management skills; and interpersonal communication skills.
There are several leading universities that offer various levels of courses in behaviour science such as Bachelor of Arts in Behaviour Science; Master of Arts in Behaviour Science and Ph D in Behaviour Science. Bachelor’s Degree in Behavior Science is a four-year program while Master’s Degree in Behavior Science is a two year course. Doctoral-level behavioral science degree programs allow students to have a specialization in the fields of behavioral psychology, social psychology, ethology, memetics; psychobiology, organizational ecology, cognitive therapy or anthropology.
There is no dearth of jobs for qualified candidates. They are largely recruited by academic institutions such as schools, colleges and universities for filling various teaching positions; health care organizations such as hospitals, nursing homes and mental health centres for the positions of behavioral therapists; and by social organizations and NGOs for project coordinator and project manager positions.
