AP Test or Advanced Placement Test, as it is popularly known, is an undergraduate level entry examination conducted every year by the College Board of the United States of America. The main objective of the AP rest is to provide advanced placements and college admissions for the most deserving candidates based on their AP test score. Most of the U.S. colleges, over 90 per cent, provide advanced placements and admission preferences for the students with good AP test scores.
AP Test is conducted across more than 30 subject areas such as Art History; Biology; Calculus; Chemistry; Chinese Language and Culture; Computer Science ; Macroeconomics; Microeconomics; English Language; English Literature; Environmental Science; European History; French Language; German Language; Government & Politics; U.S. Government & Politics; Human Geography; Japanese Language and Culture; Latin: Virgil; Music Theory; Physics; Psychology; Spanish Language; Spanish Literature; Statistics; Studio Art; U.S. History and World History.
Students must begin their preparation for AP test preferably at the beginning of a year, no later than March. They can start AP test preparation by contacting their school’s AP Coordinator or AP teacher in order to request for a counseling session. The student can then proceed with the AP test registration process under the expert guidance of his AP Coordinator who will also help to collect necessary test preparation materials and to submit the required test fee. The fee for each exam is US $86. AP test centre location, test dates and other essential information will also be provided by the AP Coordinator.
Homeschooled students and those students whose schools do not have an AP Coordinator or an AP teacher can contact a local AP coordinator for taking AP test. College Board’s website is helpful for them to locate a local AP Coordinator.
Deadlines for submitting completed AP test application forms are normally in the month of March. AP Test is normally conducted in the month of May. AP test scores are made available on the phone by the month of July. Scores are also mailed to the colleges and students at their given addresses.
